Which is the real one?

Dear Linda,

The color that you chose is perfect. The show-window mannequin is a smart choice as well, because this way the mannequin will not „steal the spotlight“ from the dress.

This was not the case with the beautiful actress, who wore the real version of this dress to the Oscar Gala. There, the dress and the owner were a stunning sight together.

I wonder, if there will be someone who guesses who wore this dress?

We hope, that lots and lots of Lindas* will choose virtual technology and the knowledge and skills of the experts at VirTailor to achieve their dreams quickly and spectacularly.

* I wrote at
the beginning of this post, that Linda is an imaginary Designer.

The dress that you have dreamt of was in the show-window within 2 weeks. Would you like to implement your other dreams so quickly and economical as well?

STABILIZATION

Dear Linda,

We have received the colorful laces.

Please let us know which version should we create the final photorealistic pictures from. Also, we should discuss, what kind of mannequin should we dress up with this dress?

-          Classical show-window mannequin
-          Realistic humanoid mannequin

-          Tailor bust
-          Hanger
-          Folded
-          Or maybe in a gift box set?

Always remember, that anything that you can think and dream of, we can create in the virtual space, and your dresses can go to your webshop, resellers, your special clients or your lookbook, without:
-          Any purchase, usage and storage of materials (fabrics, threads, tools)
-          Having to sew the dresses, multiple times even.

Regarding the manufacturing and supply of the materials; it will be precisely plannable, because with the virtual pictures, you will be able to assess the actual needs in advance.

All of this, in an incredibly short time compared to traditional product development.

So, which color do you choose?

The development

Dear Linda,

We have corrected the model based on what you drew on the first technical pictures:

- we have expanded the "feathers",  the underskirt and

- we have made the shoulder part of the TOP part of the dress thinner.

For the next step, we have put the lining on the dress as you have requested and we have simulated the material. Please check, if every position of the lace pattern is the way you prefer.

We have a few more questions:

- should we make the edges of the "feathers" lighter or should we leave them raw ( that would make it fluffy and wild)?
-  How long should the skin colored lining be on the bottom of the skirt?

We are looking forward to your answer!

Best Regards,

VirTailor Team

 Maps

Dear Linda,

Based on the inspirational photos, your hand drawing and the base information you provided, we have created the first virtual models for you. In the following pictures,
1. You can see the complete dress in 3D. We have blown up the feathers a little bit, so you can see their shapes and locations.
2. With the transparent dress-view, you can check and compare the virtual mannequin and the dress. This method is much more convenient, than with a real mannequin.
3. This is the fitmap, where you can see the pressure of the dress on the body, and how far away the fabric is from the skin.

Please, analyze these pictures and if you would like to change anything, please draw your ideas on them.
If you have any questions, we are available through online chat as well!
We wish you an exciting work!

The birth

„ Hello Linda,

We have received your drawing and the base material, from wich you would like to create a the dress.

We would need a few important information, so we could make the dress as close to your idea as possible.

You have mentioned, that this sketch is a brand new model and that you did not build it on an old, proven sample that was in your style. Is that right? If not, then we would need the original model, that was the inspiration for the new. This way, the final model, will surely show your own trademarks ( the unique properties of your brand). If possible, then please send us the following:

The sizes of the base model
The rules of the sizechart ( usually we start from a middlesize according to the customer’s rules)
The scanned, high-res pictures of the textiles/tools. A real-life sample works too if you can send it to us via a delivery company or mail. We can work with non-exixting textiles too, since we create virtual textiles for you for the 3D model simulation.
Please, prepare these, and we will make the first picture, based on your idea.

Best Regards:

CV OF A DRESS

 -    1. CHAPTER    -

I was quiet impressed by one of the dresses I saw during the Oscar Gala. It was romantic and beautiful. So I have decided to present a basic VirTailor workflow here on LinkedIn with a famous model ( I am curious whether you know who wore this dress :)

I am sure, most of us would like to see our sketches&ideas as a complete product or in the webshop as soon as possible. Also, we would not like to wait more than 2 weeks for that. This work-flow shows you the happenings of these 2 weeks...from step to step.

We have thought of a non-existent designer; her name is Linda.

I am going to share what she took inspirations from. We start a wonderful shared workflow together (cooperation). I will present each phase ( about how the work goes), with an illustrated article.

A MANNEQUIN'S METAMORPHOSIS - CHAPTER 6

- SIXTH LETTER -

The Tailor was staring out the window, while sipping his strawberry tea. He was mesmerized with the heavy rain that was pouring down that day. As he looked over the mountains he saw the most beautiful rainbow in his life. But his daydreaming was interrupted whan someone rang the bell. It was the postman with a beautiful postcard, that illustrated a big Ferris Wheel. It was from his good friend of course.

London. What a colorful city. We love it, how people who live here don’t follow fashion in the most strict sense, but they mix it with their own personality, so the end result is wonderful. The people here are like individual little jewel boxes. I hope I can take home a little bit of this style with me.”

A Mannequin's Metamorphosis - Chapter 5

- FIFTH LETTER -

It was a sunny day and our dear Tailor was spending it at home, tending to his garden and enjoying his day off.
He went to check his daily mail, hoping he will find a letter from his beloved Mannequin.
He wasn't disappointed. Her next letter said:

'My dearest Tailor,
Happy belated St. Patrick's Day! Our Traveller friend took me to Chicago to see the parade.
Everything - and everyone! - was dressed in green and the people were so happy, they even dyed the river green! It was magical!
I can't wait to see what will be our next adventure!'

Our beloved Tailor was just closing up his shop before heading home, when he saw the postman hurrying towards him.

The Tailor smiled fonldy, it was from his lovely Mannequin.

'Let's not be sad that he is no more, be glad that he was. Make sure we will be able to say the same thing about our lives, we say about his: That we lived it long and prosper.'

Days went by and the Tailor was humming happily while working on his newest suit, when the next letter arrived. The envelope was beautifully decorated with intricate designs.
